On World CO2 Reduction Day, the call to action is clear: today, reduction is essential. While many companies talk about sustainability, at Unibag we’ve transformed our operations so that every reusable bag is the result of clean production.

Measurable results: The impact of our footprint

For us, climate action is based on rigorous data. According to the latest footprint measurement from the HuellaChile program for 2024, we can proudly say that Unibag achieved a reduction of 35,236 tCO₂e. (see certificates)

To understand this figure: this emissions saving is equivalent to diverting approximately 70 tons of household waste from landfills in one year. This calculation is based on the emission factor of 497,045 kg CO₂e/ton for solid waste disposed of in landfills, validated by HuellaChile 2024.

Recognition of consistency

This achievement has allowed us to maintain a track record of environmental excellence recognized by the Ministry of the Environment:

• 3 consecutive years with the Emissions Quantification seal.
• 2 consecutive years obtaining the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reduction seal.

The sun as the engine of our factory

How do we achieve this sustainable reduction in our carbon footprint? We have a photovoltaic plant with over 500 solar panels on top of our factory, allowing us to operate with clean, renewable energy. By generating our own energy, we prevent the emission of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, ensuring that our sustainable packaging solutions have the smallest possible environmental impact.
